Our Story

A new church rising in the heart of Dothan.

We exist to help people follow Jesus, become like him, and do what he did, right here in the Wiregrass.

Vision & Mission

Follow. Become. Do.

Three words hold everything we hope to become. We want to help people follow Jesus, become like him, and do what he did, right here in the Wiregrass. It's the whole shape of a life coming awake to God.

Vision · What do we see?

The future we're praying toward

We see people in Dothan follow Jesus, become like him, and do what he did in the power of the Spirit.

Mission · What are we doing?

Multiplying disciples across our city

We participate in God's kingdom by multiplying disciples across our city.

We believe God is already at work in Dothan, and our role is to join him by making disciples who make disciples.

Arise Dothan is a Spirit-filled, Bible-centered church plant meeting in Dothan. We're young, we're small, and we're praying for a harvest, a family where anyone can find a place at the table, whether you've never set foot in a church, walked away from one, or got worn out inside one.

We're planted in partnership with The Foursquare Church, a global family of Spirit-filled churches, a wider family we get to belong to as we take root here in the Wiregrass.

Our story

How Arise began to rise

Every dawn starts small. Here's the road that led us to Dothan.

Called to Dothan

A vision to plant

It began with a conviction that God wasn't finished with the Wiregrass, that this city needed a warm, Spirit-led church where anyone could come as they are. The call was clear: stay, put down roots, and plant something new in Dothan.

A season of prayer

Laying the foundations

Before a single gathering, we spent a season in prayer, asking God for direction and laying spiritual foundations one conversation at a time. That season became the seed of the community we're building today.

Where we are now

Making disciples together

This is where we are: every Sunday morning, we gather at Mural City Coffee as a Disciple Making Community, coffee, prayer, open Scripture, and honest conversation as we make disciples who make disciples. Once a month, on the second Saturday, we move out together to serve our city. This is the present tense of Arise Dothan, not a waiting room, but the real work of becoming a church.

What's next

Room to grow

Our Disciple Making Community isn't a phase, it's our core rhythm, and it's here to stay. Right now we gather as one community every Sunday at 10:00 AM at Mural City Coffee, and as we grow these communities multiply across our city into new groups, days, and times. We're also building toward Gathered Worship, when our communities come together as one to worship, hear the Word, and share the Lord's Table, and we'll announce the first one on social media, our website, and by email. The sun is still rising on what God is doing here, and there's room for you in it.

Our Kingdom Rhythms · How do we participate?

Move up, in, and out

Three movements shape our life together as we join God's work in Dothan.

Move Up · Gather

Worship Jesus

Move Up is worship. This is the church gathered, when our communities come together as one to praise Jesus, sit under the preaching of the Word, share the Lord's Table, and give attention to the Holy Spirit among us. We're building toward this rhythm now. We'll announce the first gathering on social media, our website, and by email, so follow along and you'll know when it's here.

Move In · Form

Become like Jesus

Disciple Making Communities where we're formed into the likeness of Jesus, practice his way together, and are equipped to make disciples who make disciples. This is our core rhythm, and it's here to stay, multiplying across our city into new groups, days, and times.

Move Out · Send

Join the mission of Jesus

Everyday witness, service, and compassion across Dothan, and serving the city together on the 2nd Saturday of each month. A people who are gathered, then sent.

Core Values · Who are we becoming?

What we value

Six convictions shape who we're becoming as we follow Jesus and love our city.

Love Jesus

We pursue Jesus above all else through worship, prayer, Scripture, and joyful obedience.

Be Spirit Led

We depend on the Holy Spirit to guide, empower, transform, and send us.

Multiply Disciples

We make disciples who make disciples, helping people follow Jesus, become like him, and do what he did.

Live in Community

We grow best together through authentic relationships marked by love, encouragement, and accountability.

Live on Mission

Every follower of Jesus is sent to serve, love, and bear witness throughout Dothan and the Wiregrass.

Steward Faithfully

We faithfully steward our time, gifts, finances, relationships, and opportunities for God's glory.
